Help us educate others about electricity
We're looking for local community residents, tourism students or graduates, and those who are interested in pursuing a career at BC Hydro to work at our Visitor Centres.
At our Visitor Centres — located at dams near Mission, Revelstoke and Hudson's Hope – we educate visitors from B.C. and around the world about hydroelectricity, electrical safety and energy conservation. And we tell the story of BC Hydro in the region.
Successful candidates are brand ambassadors for BC Hydro and share their knowledge of a variety of subjects:
- How hydro-electricity is generated, distributed, transmitted and used safely
- The history and construction of our generating stations/dams
- About energy efficiency and sustainability
- Other BC Hydro initiatives and programs, with an emphasis on what's happening locally.
Tour guide positions are part-time seasonal employment opportunities.
Tour Guide positions are part-time seasonal employment opportunities. BC Hydro Visitor Centres can be open up to 7 days a week and working hours for Tour Guides can vary.

What your work day looks like
Tour Guides greet visitors, generate interest in our facilities and programs, respond to visitor inquiries and lead guided tours through the Visitor Centre, tailoring tour content to meet the needs and interests of the group they are leading. A typical day can also include engaging in promotional activities and projects, and conducting tourism research and surveys on behalf of BC Hydro.
Qualifications: What you bring
- Experience and strong skills in customer service, public speaking, presentations and/or leading groups
- Ability to deal effectively with all ages of the general public, from pre-schoolers to seniors, and to provide clear and concise information to the general public
- Basic knowledge of BC Hydro's current initiatives, services and programs as well as some understanding of electricity generation.
