Get additional funding for energy-efficient upgrades

We're offering additional funding and support for customers in our Non-Integrated Areas (NIA) to make energy-efficient upgrades that reduce reliance on diesel-generated electricity.

We have special offers for Indigenous communities, residential customers, and business customers located in our NIA. Learn more about the offers available:

 

Offers for Indigenous communities

Community Energy Diesel Reduction

We're partnering with the Government of B.C. and the New Relationship Trust (NRT) to provide funding for energy-efficient upgrades through the Community Energy Diesel Reduction (CEDR) program. Our funding supports the demand-side management stream, which is for projects that improve the energy efficiency of residential and community buildings.

Eligibility

All communities within our Non-Integrated Area are eligible to take part.

Indigenous Climate Action Network

We're partnering with the Government of B.C. and the Government of Canada to support the Indigenous Climate Action Network (I-CAN), a program of the Coastal First Nations Great Bear Initiative. I-CAN provides funding and support for Climate Action Coordinator positions, training, and peer learning opportunities for remote Indigenous communities across BC, including in BC Hydro's NIA.

Eligibility

All Indigenous communities within our Non-Integrated Area are eligible to take part.

Offers for residential customers

If you're a residential customer living in our Non-Integrated Area (NIA), we have bonus energy-saving offers available. You could be eligible to receive free energy-saving products and bonus rebates to support your energy-efficient upgrades.
 

Get a free energy saving kit

Residential customers in our Non-Integrated Area are eligible to receive a free energy saving kit. There's no income qualification requirement.

What's in the kit?

  • Four LED light bulbs
  • Weather stripping to reduce drafts around windows and doors
  • High-efficiency showerheads
  • Water-saving tap aerators
  • LED night light
  • Fridge and freezer thermometer
  • Step-by-step instruction guide [PDF, 3.4 MB] to help you install each product

How to apply

When you apply for your free energy saving kit your account will be identified as a NIA customer and the income-qualification will be automatically waived. Apply online or apply by phone by calling 1-800-224-9376.
 

Get bonus rebates for energy-efficient upgrades

Residential customers in our NIA can get bonus rebates on eligible energy-efficient upgrades through our home renovation rebates. We're offering double the rebate on building envelope upgrades and efficient space and water heating upgrades.

Eligibility

These bonus rebates are for residential customers in our NIA. Check our program eligibility to confirm that your home is eligible. Then, ensure you're following the product rebate requirements for the specific upgrades you plan to do:

How to apply

Residential customers in our NIA can apply online for rebates through our home renovation rebate program. Your account will be automatically identified as being in the NIA and the bonus rebate amount will be processed.

If your projects are complete and you have your documents ready, apply for your rebates.
 

Business customers

Incentives for equipment upgrades

If you're a business customer in our NIA, you can get an additional 65% bonus incentive on select energy-efficient upgrades through our business energy-saving incentives.

Our bonus incentives shorten the payback period of your upfront investment and help you to reduce electricity consumption, save on energy costs, and increase your bottom line.

Eligibility

If you own a small business or commercial building located in our NIA, you're eligible for these bonus incentives.

How to apply

Work with a qualified contractor who's registered with our Alliance of Energy professionals. When you're ready to apply, you can apply online via our Conservation and Energy Management (CEM) Hub.
