RSS power outages feeds
BC Hydro customers are now able to view outage information through an RSS Feed that delivers updated information every 15 minutes.
The Outage RSS Feeds will be limited to unplanned outage information (Current / Restored) grouped together by Region and/or Municipality.
The RSS Feed service will be delivered as plain text/XML content and it can include special update messaging whenever it is posted during an escalated outage event.

How up-to-date is the outage information?
Outage information is updated every fifteen minutes.
How do I speed up/slow down the frequency of the updates?
If you are using an application-based RSS Reader then it most likely has an option to modify desktop alerts to your preference. Because all RSS Readers are different we cannot provide exact instructions on modifying this setting but try looking for Tools, Options, and/or Alerts.
Why can't I see the outage details?
Some Web browsers offer Live Bookmarks which may not provide all outage info as intended.
Why do I see Current and Restored Information for the same outage??
Dependent on your RSS Reader, it will automatically retain previously delivered information which could result in multiple entries for the same outage. In these instances, you will want to look at when the information was posted and/or last updated.
Furthermore, any updates to the ETR or outage information will result in additional Feeds. Again, referring to the last updated time will confirm which information is the most recent and accurate.
Does BC Hydro offer any other proactive outage notification services?
Yes. If you are a BC Hydro Business customer and have an online Your Account profile you can register for the Outage Notification Service. This service will provide proactive outage information for unplanned outages for individual facilities.
