Indigenous professionals in development

Paid work experience and training
We're looking for ambitious Indigenous professionals with university degrees to join our team. Our Professionals in Development program offers Indigenous professionals paid work and professional development placements at BC Hydro.
Program participants have the unique opportunity to gain experience with a variety of teams in a dynamic organization that powers B.C.'s growing clean economy.
About the program
Candidates participate in two or more work rotations over a one- to two-year period in Management and Professional roles in different business groups. Through these rotations, you'll gain BC Hydro work experience and insight into the company; you'll also develop a network across the organization that will help when applying for full-time BC Hydro roles.
Here's what you can expect:
Meet other program participants, learn about our Indigenous employee network, and receive an overview of BC Hydro.
Secure rotations based on your interest, education, background and our business needs.
Receive professional development support and coaching from mentors.
We value collaboration, inclusivity, and building strong relationships, both within our workforce and with the communities we serve.
Our goal is for all participants to find full-time employment with us; however, a permanent role at the end of this program is not guaranteed.

For Cayley, a mechanical engineer in training, participating in the program means she gets to inspire other Indigenous women interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) roles.
