Registered civil contractor list

Laid down underground cables

As of September 1, 2024, you’re required to hire a contractor who’s part of the registered civil contractor list for all construction of civil works on public or private property.

Early registration is now open. The list will be available starting September 1, 2024.

A program to improve safety and efficiency

We introduced this program with the objective of aligning all civil construction with BC Hydro distribution standards. It’s intended to enhance safety, efficiency and work quality, which contributes to the reliability of the service that we deliver to our customers.

The publicly available list will provide transparency to customers and expedite the contractor selection process.

If you have questions about the program, please email us.

Benefits for you

The requirement to work with registered civil contractors may provide several benefits to you.

  • Streamlined project execution through reviewed contractors.
  • Faster final inspections allow your project to be completed quicker.
  • Adherence to quality standards reduces the likelihood of needing costly rework. This helps make your project’s overall cost and administration more efficient and predictable.

Join the list

Experienced civil contractors can submit a request to be included on the list. If you’re a customer, encourage your vendor list to submit their requests early to avoid delays to your projects.
