Responsive Table

To be able to use the app, you need to:

  • Be a residential account holder on an eligible rate.
  • Have an online MyHydro profile with administrator access to a linked account.
  • Have a connected smart meter that communicates remotely with BC Hydro.
  • Have a smartphone or tablet; iOS 13+ (iPhone 8 and above) or Android Version 5+.
  • Have an internet-connected smartphone or tablet (wi-fi or cellular).

What's a hub?

A hub is an optional device that allows you to upgrade to real-time electricity use data. This means you'll be able to see how much electricity you're using at any given time, broken down by individual systems and connected devices.

The device functions as a central point that connects your home's usage – and any compatible smart devices – to your mobile app.

It doesn't have a screen or keypad. It displays data directly in the app via an internet connection.

Limited in some home types

If you live in a townhouse complex, a hub might not be able to communicate with your smart meter. The hub can still be used with the app to control smart devices; however, the real-time energy data may not be available. If your hub connection doesn't work out, you can return it for a full refund within 30 days.

If you live in an apartment building, hubs aren't available to you because they're not compatible with this building type, due to the meter location.

For more information about hubs, see our frequently asked questions.
