No. 13, captain Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns

Bio

Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash enjoyed an outstanding high school basketball career at Victoria's St. Michael's Academy, but garnered little attention from U.S. college recruiters. The South Africa-born Nash starred at Santa Clara University in California and was taken 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 1996 NBA draft… The best Canadian basketball player ever is also a superstar in charity and humanitarian work. His Steve Nash Foundation not only assists underserved children, it encourages corporations to be community-minded, fostering environmentally-friendly office practices. For this and other reasons, Time magazine in 2006 named Nash one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He and wife Alejandra welcomed twin daughters, Lola and Bella, prior to the start of 2004-05 season. They make their home in Phoenix.

Going green is a work in progress: Nash

“I don't endorse a lot of things, but I believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle, which is about more than getting in shape. It's also about creating a healthy environment for ourselves and our children.”
