For a limited time, the following rebates will be available on ENERGY STAR labelled appliances:

| ENERGY STAR labelled refrigerators | $50 |
| ENERGY STAR labelled freezers | $25 |
Please Note : The ENERGY STAR specification for residential refrigerators changed on April 28, 2008. To qualify for ENERGY STAR, standard-sized refrigerators will need to be 20 percent above the minimum federal standard. Please check the ENERGY STAR website for more information.
Save energy and the environment
You will benefit from using less energy, reducing your energy bill and contributing to positive environmental impacts. Look for the ENERGY STAR label on appliances; it identifies the most energy-efficient appliances.
ENERGY STAR clothes washers
- Use 35 per cent less energy than standard models.
- Use 30–50 per cent less water than standard models.
- Spin two to three times faster than standard models during the spin cycle and extract more water, which means less time and energy is used in the dryer.
ENERGY STAR refrigerators and freezers
- Use 10–15 per cent less energy than standard models.
- Have high efficiency compressors, improved insulation (in doors and exterior walls), more precise temperatures and defrost controls.

How to apply for a mail-in rebate
Step 1: Choose your application format
Online application: Complete the Power Smart Appliance Rebate Program application form online.
Mail-in application: Download Power Smart Appliance Rebate Program application form [PDF, 55 Kb], print and complete.
Step 2: Submitting your completed rebate form
- Sign your rebate application form.
- Attach copies of all invoices or receipts showing the appliance purchase.
- Submit your application within 90 days of the appliance purchase to:

The appliance must be purchased and ordered between January 15, 2008 and December 31, 2008. A rebate cheque is generally mailed within 6-8 weeks. Only one application for each appliance type (i.e. clothes washer, refrigerator and freezer) will be accepted per household per customer. Customer must be a BC Hydro or City of New Westminster residential customer. The appliance must be installed in a residential dwelling within the BC Hydro or City of New Westminster service areas.
