Resource Acquisition Make Text Larger Make Text Smaller Print This Page

Energy development and investment, specifically in the green energy field, are key to meeting the energy demands of British Columbians over the next 10 years and beyond. While green energy projects play a significant role in creating sustainable energy sources for B.C.’s future, it is just one of several resource acquisition initiatives underway to help BC Hydro meet it’s customers growing electricity needs.

Green Independent Power Producers

BC Hydro is interested in purchasing electricity from independent power producers (IPPs) whose projects meet low-impact and social green criteria. If you have a project that you think may qualify – or if you are interested in learning more about green criteria and the ways in which we work with IPPs – Green IPPs contains much of the information you need.

Customer-Based Generation

Are you a transmission or large commercial customer with on-site generation potential? We are seeking to acquire energy from customer-based generation as a way to help meet growing electricity demand in B.C.

Generator Interconnections

Are you a generator owner or independent power producer (IPP) and need to get connected to the BC Hydro grid? Whether you intend to synchronize your standby generator, sell the power to BC Hydro or simply use our transmission services, Generator Interconnections provides a single point of contact to help you select and implement the appropriate service options.
