Rates and Regulation
A Regulated Utility
BC Hydro is the largest electric utility in British Columbia and a provincial Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of Energy and Mines.
The provincial government, representing the people of British Columbia, is our shareholder. The provincial energy plan, “Energy for our Future: A Plan for B.C.,” returned BC Hydro to full rate regulation under the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC), an independent agency of the provincial government.
