New Green and Clean Energy
Currently, BC Hydro has electricity purchase agreements (EPAs) with independent power producers (IPPs) representing 21 green power projects planned for B.C. In total, these projects have the potential to generate about 915 GWh of electricity per year. All projects involve commercially proven technologies: 19 are small hydro; one is biomass and one is green landfill gas.
Through the 2002/03 Green Energy Generation procurement process, BC Hydro plans to acquire 800 GWh/year of electricity from IPPs with qualifying green energy projects.
